Scrimp or Splurge?

Personally, I prefer both!

A good friend Anita launched a new website, scrimporsplurge.ca, which I love. Being a relatively new Victorian (okay, it's been a few years now, so not that new) I still have much to learn about the ins and outs of where-to-go, what-to-do and who-to-buy-from about town. Cool tips and tricks from Anita? I'll take them gladly!

Oh, and check out the photo gallery of Victoria scenes, featuring little Hugo Spence, not to mention a few other Susan Rybar photos.

Mini-retreats for minimum amounts of time

My friend Tracy gave me a copy of The Mini-Retreat Solution, a book about taking small relaxing retreats from our everyday life. After flipping through the book a few times, I found a few I like:

  • Mini-Vacation
  • Sing at the Top of Your Lungs
  • Climb Stairs
  • Think of Someone you Love
  • Acts of Kindness

For a sneak preview of the book, click here. Go down the page to Sneak Preview.

Zappa skanking

Saw this quote from Frank Zappa on the back of a shirt at the ska fest today.

"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible."

Made me think. Made me think about how normal my life is.

Hmmm....

(still thinking)

Hmmmm....

It's hot.

Thinking it's time to hit Thetis Lake for a swim.

Then perhaps listen to some more Danny Rebel and the KBG.

Love this!

From my friend Margaret's Facebook status:

"So the barista at the coffee shop at my hotel this morning was all of about 20 years old. He told me he is in the midst of buying a typewriter to improve his writing. Said that with a typewriter, you have to think before you write. Wise words from a young lad."

Proud colours

Just a few favourite photographs from the 2010 Victoria Pride Parade.

I want to be her!

Sweet socks. Have you seen Whip It yet?

Beach Party, pride style!

Walking for a good cause.

Public Access... live from Victoria

Just a few shots of Public Access hanging out downtown Victoria before their debut gig tomorrow. I must admit, I do like my role as Public Access official band photographer and have decided my goal in life is to get my picture on the cover of the Rolling Stone. (Going to see my picture on the cover... gonna buy five copies for my mother...)

Poster girl

The first time one of my photos has been featured in a music concert poster, framed and featured on the wall of Fan Tan Alley.

Music concert... or... awakening the Goddess within?
